I understand. But are surveys delineated by dates or are survey trips? This information would be useful, if
entered, for running queries later. (ie. Did Richard Knapp sketch in 2001 in the "A" survey?)
But I guess the definition of a survey should come first?
>In XML the survey identifier needs to be decided as to whether it is unique or not.
I would hate to restrict users by saying a survey is defined as one survey trip. The format is much more
flexible than that. This should not end up like COMPASS forcing you to choose a false unique name for each
survey trip (A, A+, A++, etc).
Of course the opposite can be argued. I have been on trips where we did not stick to one survey designation
(picking up side leads as we went) through one survey trip. Do those now have to be split into separate
sections or do they stay as one?
Or are you saying the ID will be assigned by the application? That would not be a valid constraint since there
are many XML editors available (even some versions of IE?) That and a Schema are all that is required for
inputting data.
