That depends on what each act of surveying. If the format is to encompass the various ways surveying is
done, will one method be promoted to the detriment of others?

I definately agree. To me, raw data is raw data; totally unprocessed (and sometimes hard to read). Does
converting to a base coordinate really save time later or does it make extra work for other portions (to do the
conversions)? If I use a special app for CaveXML (or whatever) and then look at the data and see it is _not_
what I entered, I would have some concerns about that apps ability to record my data. On the other side, if I
create an XML file using the Schema an and XML editor, would the other apps -- now dependant on a certain
base unit -- fail with a reasonable error message or just produce bad data?
