Taco (and Larry Fish)'s work, emobied in that document was inspired for
its time. In fact, as I got my own XML efforts underway I reviewed that
document and included it in my analysis of "active/current" cave survey
data representation techniques. I recall summarizing it as a solution
ahead of it's time, trying to accomplish then much of what XML delivers
now.
I think this is a piece that everyone interested in the CaveXML subject
would do well to become familiar with. To some degree this article
states several requirements for Cave Survey data in XML that CaveXML
should work to address. My own efforts have benefited from this seminal
work by Taco and Larry.
