At 21:02 15-01-01 -0800, Garry Petrie posted a long discusssion on formats.
I must admit that I bogged down part way through, but one item that caught my eye was that the proposed format was assuming that LRUD (Left, Right, Up, Down) distance data was to be tied to the "From" station.
This is NOT a universal convention!
I personally find the "From" approach of SMAPS most confusing as when I measure a shot, my mind is invariably on the new "To" station, not the 'from' station which has already been noted, sketched etc. So any LRUD data I note is for the new station.
I don't want to stir up an argument as to which is the best approach, merely point out that BOTH approaches ARE used.
So, Whatever file format we use must be able to cater for the two different approaches.
