I think this is correct. Moreover, they can even have both endpoints not
connected with the survey line at all. Say, I have the final point of the
survey line
somewhere near the entrance of a hall. I might want to know the witdth and
length of the hall, but do not care about its precise position. Another
example
can be the position of large stalagmites or boulders near walls. It makes
sense
to know the distance from the wall, but not from the survey point.
Unlike the regular shot, they can even have no azimuth value.
