Devin,

I like what you've got so far in XML
at http://www.psc-cavers.org/xml/

I notice you didn't go for any attributes (type or title)
on Comments, nor did you stear away from using the loaded
term "comment".

Why not on either point?

Text is part of what surveyors put in their books, I figure
a classification of a 'comment' or text can't hurt. Consider
"lead" description, "narration" text, "data entry" comments;
all very different bits of text, all useful to retain.
They'd be impossible to separate from each other unless there
was some "type" tag. I'd make it an attribute myself, but allow
any value, it is just something to select on.

Another point:

Why not just put person inside instrument? After all you allow no
more than a person per instrument. Or do you see a complex and
non-one-to-one relationship between person, role and instrument?

Just some thoughts and questions.

-Paul
