Validing proposed CaveXML DTD's.

My personal opinion:

It would be nice if full DTD's (as opposed to examples) that
are published here were, in fact, valid. This would allow
me (and others) to actually paste them into a tool and play
  with them.

I gather from personal email that some people feel that they
don't have validators or other appropriate tools for this.

So... Here is a site that has a good (in my opinion) list
of availible tools. *NOTE* Some of the resources are web
pages that can check yours if you have them on the web,
*AND* some of the web pages allow you to directly paste
  text into them for checking.

  http://www.oasis-open.org/cover/check-xml.html

  (with, for example, http://www.stg.brown.edu/service/xmlvalid/
allowing pasted in examples. Note, however, that this vaidator
is overly picky about ">"'s in entities, causing it to sometimes
reject valid use of them. [: Causing it to reject the official
  DTD's :] ))

Ok, now almost everyone has appropriate tools :)
