I'm in the process of entering an existing cave inventory of our area and
CaveXML looks like a good way to handle the data. This inventory contains
all the caves in our area so there will be multiple caves, each with
multiple entrances.
Why am I mentioning this? For one, it will get some "on-hands" experience
with the basic cave data: name, entrance(s), history, etc. It will also
have some biology and geology information attached. In the long run, I'm
hoping my experience inputing data from the inventory will help generate
some feedback to the CaveXML project.
As it stands now, the current ERD is sketching on handling this. This is
not a CaveSystem, it's more a Project. In this case, the Project contains
many Cave Systems and Caves. The Diagram shows the CaveSystem having one
or more Projects. This is a relatively minor problem.
I'm hoping, once things get going, I'll be able to how more of the model
fits the issues we encounter.
